Weeks ago I had lost the desire to continue with the trail, but I wanted to at least finish the northern half of the Appalachian Trail. Today, as I sat atop Old Speck Trail on a hot day, I contemplated hitchhiking north to Bangor and hiking south to complete the rest of Maine.
