This 1991 Bridgestone MB-4 is missing most of its decals and has a severely scratched fork, and now it's equipped similar to the setup I toured with from Houston
to the Canadian border.
It had a seized seatpost so the owner sold it for $35, but that price also reflects missing components. It appears the owner tried several methods including heating the insertion point, which toasted the paint. The seatpost clamp was removed and the post itself was full of
wrench marks. I just hammered the post down a little (used tape around post to widen diameter and prevent it from slipping into tube), and it
came easily out. The other issue was the driveside chainstay is pretty rusty from chain slap.
Shimano XT M739 rear derailleur. $10 bike swap meet.
Nashbar Rodeo pedals. $22 (shown with Shimano XT M737 SPD pedals with platform adapters).
Dia-Compe Power Control 7 (PC-7) brake levers. $1 bike swap meet.
Suntour XC Expert 3x7 thumb shifters (front is friction while rear is friction or indexing).
Dia-Compe X1 cantilever brakes.
Ritchey Vantage Expert rims with 14-gauge Wheelsmith spokes and Sansin hubs. 7-speed freewheel. Someone drilled it for shraeder, but originally presta size.
Geax Blade 26x1.85 tires. $24 for both. Review of this tire (amazingly high marks for inexpensive wired tires).
Forte ultralite tubes (with Tyvek homemade tire liners). $8 for both.
